As we journey forward together as St. Catherine Labouré Parish, there is a sense of excitement about the vision of what we can become. Over the past year, the Pastoral Council has worked diligently to develop a Parish Plan whose aim is to: (A) celebrate our parish, united in one mission; and (B) to lay a foundation for vibrant growth.
The ultimate goal of the Plan is to become a more vibrant Parish. The Plan calls for the formation of three Strategic Commissions to explore ways to help vitalize our parish as we move forward together. These Strategic Commissions will meet this Fall with a goal to finalize their recommendations by the start of the Advent season. They will be asked to explore how best to enrich our Parish in the following specific areas:
Family First Commission
Objective: To grow interest and participation in parish life among families and especially the next generation.
Think of the POSSIBILITIES – perhaps things such as: Family designated masses with “Sunday School” for children under age five; Children’s liturgy activities; maybe a Children’s Choir; parish-sponsored youth sports and social activities; faith sharing programs for young parents; on-line Catholic based programs for toddlers and young children; social events with childcare provided….
Hospitality Commission
Objective: To promote a welcoming culture and outreach to others so that Christ’s open arms are visible to all.
Think of the POSSIBILITIES – perhaps things such as: a Parish picnic; mentors for new parishioners; enriched Music Ministry with a variety of music genre at different masses; maybe weekly after-mass fellowship gatherings sponsored by parish organizations; parking/traffic greeters; greeters at all church doors; an enhanced usher ministry….
Discipleship Commission
Objective: To grow disciple-making activities and programs of the parish that encourage spiritual growth
Think of the POSSIBILITIES -- perhaps things such as: a growing number of parishioners participating in weekly faith sharing small groups; maybe a continuous cycle of bible studies that lead to a fuller understanding of the scriptures; continuous faith enrichment programs such as Alpha, ChristLife, Emmaus, On Fire, and/or others; faith mentoring; an increased number of volunteer and mission programs….
Hopefully, YOU have some great ideas for new possibilities and will consider being a part of one of these Commissions! If so, please contact any of the Engaged In team members. We have good reason to be excited about the future! Together, let us pray that the Holy Spirit will work through our Strategic Commissions.
As members of St. Catherine Laboure Parish, our Mission is to Learn Jesus, Love Jesus, and Live Jesus and to invite others to share in the Sacramental Life of the Catholic faith.
